Check this out. Caelyn made this reindeer in preschool, along with a fuzzy red nose that was glued on. The nose fell off. A while later, she came up to Julie and told her that she had fixed it herself. Check out her innovative solution:

Action Shots
While working on her reading with her mom, Caelyn decided to kick up the beanbag jumping to the next level. It involved jumping forward, doing a half-twist in the air, and then rolling off the beanbag after she landed. Or, as she termed them, "roly-polys." We got a few good action shots.
And one of the landing--not the prettiest part of the maneuver. Cool shot of her hair, though.

Ghost Cat
Julie and I saw Pirate.
It's true. The cat that we all thought was dead--that, by all accounts, should be dead, is still among the living. Mom doesn't believe me, but I now have absolutely conclusive proof that the bedraggled beast that looked like it dragged itself in (ha!) is actually our own former druggie cat.
It occurred to me, after Pirate had walked by us Sunday night, that he had a couple of dreadlocks. And, it also occurred to me, I've seen something like that before . . . but where . . . I thought and thought, and then BAM! It occurred to me.
Dreadlocks? Check.
Coming back from the dead? Check.
Looking like dead? Check.
Or, rather, LeChuck.
That's right. Pirate now bears an uncanny resemblance to the ghost pirate (coincidence? I think not) LeChuck from the Monkey Island games.
So be excited, because coming home for Christmas is going to mean that you get to see LePirate once again.
(I wouldn't get too close, however; LePirate not only looks like death, pre-warming over, and likely carries the plague and/or leprosy, but he looked at me pretty much the same way LeChuck is looking at that doll of Guybrush.)

Still hungry.
Mary, having finished her own cupcake, notices one in the hand of an unsuspecting victim. (cue Jaws music)

Poor, Sick Zerah
Poor Zerah has bronchitis--he had a really rough night on Saturday, and then a rough day on Monday. He just layed around all day. On the upside, he was extra cuddly...
No, these weren't posted in reverse order. First snowfall today, and the kids had a blast outside. Or so I hear. Zerah spent the entire time eating handful after handful of snow.
Caelyn, as is apparent, was excited. Snowballs and Scotty were two of the words I caught for sure.

Random, Recent Pictures
Since we don't have our own blog like everyone else...
Trying for a family picture--Julie won't let me use this one for the real thing, but I think it is awesome.
Sure, we put Caelyn to sleep on beds. But she prefers floors. So we put her to sleep on floors, but with a blanket and pillow. Apparently, she prefers sleeping sans blanket and pillow, under a cot, with one foot suspended in the fitted sheet above her.
The hair, as you've all seen (e.g., fairy princess curls) is definitely tamable. One of my favorite things, however, is how it can revert, if left untended, to a delightfully wild state. With this do, I think she could give Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix LeStrange, for the unaware) a run for her money.

Thirtieth Wedding Anniversary
We were surprised and pleased to have a gorgeous arrangment of Hawaiin flowers delivered to our room after our walk this afternoon. We appreciate our thoughtful, generous children remembering us on this special day. Now we're trying to figure out how to take them home with us! We're having a wonderful time here. Dad went swimming in the ocean this morning and then we walked along the beach. Now we're working on Christmas cards in our room. Thanks again for your thoughtful gift!!
